For us the most important factor in providing aservice to the public is meeting and if possible, exceeding guest’s expectations. This is not a “first” class luxury resort. It is intended to be a casual, common sense service and we expect visitors to be flexible and there has to be some give and take. Thus we price accordingly.

Many of our guests will be embarking on Wilderness Adventure tours in the Moresby Island and South Moresby region. All of these trips are contingent on weather conditions, schedule disruptions are not only likely, they are inevitable and we will work accommodate travelers as much as possible. This includes flight and ferry as well as local transportation services. We take no credit for good weather nor blame for wind or rain so long as it stays outside.

Built by Duane and LaVerne Gould in the early 1960’s as a family home the house remains very much the same today. The arborite counters and wood paneled walls reflect the era and hold many memories. Picture entering a home, not a hotel room.

Main bed room features a king size bed, chest of drawers with a mirror. The middle room has a queen bed and chest of drawers and the end room will contain 2 double beds. Basement room has kids sized bunks and double futon. All rooms have closets.

“There is one communal bathroom “with tubshower… The hot watertank is large! Future improvements are planned. For now it is what it is.

In the kitchen, with its greenish coloured counters and cedar kitchen cabinets you will find basic condiments in the fridge and all that you will need for baking and cooking including spices and concomitant pots and pans. There is a variety of items in the pantry on a use what you need, replace if you can, leave something you don’t need it for the next guests basis. Same for the fridge.

The living room has a large concrete brick fireplace with a Blaze King woodstove insert, sofa’s and a variety of comfortable chairs. Stereo, Smart Tv and PC with wireless Internet. Cell service is poor, weak ! Sometimes you need to take a walk in the yard to get connected. But if you enable your settings to cellular over wifi. It works pretty well.

This house is meant to be lived in and guests are to make themselves at home. One of the family usaually will be nearby, but guests should be fairly self sufficient. Basically everything is there and it can be considered self serve operation. A good selection of Linen’s are provided and guests will remove their bed sheets etc to a hamper when their stay is completed. Clean linen will be already placed in the room and ready to be put on the beds.

Pretty much everything you need is there or can be found. There is a Washer, dryer and detergent in the laundry room. Additional reezer and fridge space are available down the stairs in the basement. If you need to store things while away there is a bank of lockers in the basement for those coming and going.

Please, our attitude is leave it as good or better than you found it. This is a variable.

The house is located on a one acre lot about two km from the airport, along the shore of shingle bay. The main road must be crossed to access the beach. Back of the house is lawn, alder, spruce, hemlock and cedar trees including an eagle nest.

A barbque is provided and, when permitted by authorities, beach fires are encouraged. The house is managed by Doug and Scott Gould.

Go Experience Ltd. (Scott) has a variety of outdoor gear and equipment used for outfitting.

Doug was one of the original founders of Moresby Explorers (1988) and is very familiar with activities available in the area including how to get around..

We will generally have a vehicle onsite which can be used in the town for accessing the store etc. Lots of “bikes” for guests to use.

In season, Northern Shores accommodations have a restaurant a couple hundred meters from the house – less than 5 minute walk away.

The house is generally not locked nor do the rooms have individual locks. There is plenty of space to store gear and luggage. (Lockers for guest use).

The house is most suited to being booked by a single group but individual room bookings are more common. Booked as available. We are limited in the number (4 bedrooms) but have spare mattresses and make allowances for children/families. We also have the option of using a motor home and RV-trailer for accomodation and over flow where necessary. Tents are not unusual in the back yard.

It is used on a shared basis between guests and visitors. It is usually fairly quiet but does get busy. Can be a quiet and boisterous place, depends on who’s there, but gennerally, it is a place to rest and organize for what ever you have planned. “Communal is probably the best term”. Organized confusion sometimes the order of the day.

If this is for you, come make yourself at home.
